In an innovative classroom initiative, the students of Class XI of Gurukul Global School participated in a thought-provoking activity centered around the fundamental economic concept of 'Scarcity'.The activity was designed to deepen students’ understanding of limited resources and the necessity of smart decision-making in everyday life.
The activity, conducted under the guidance of Ms Hema, Economics Faculty, aimed to bring textbook concepts to life through real-world simulations and engaging group tasks. Students were divided into groups and given a limited set of resources such as tokens, cards, or budget sheets, to 'purchase' basic needs like food, clothing, shelter, education, and healthcare. This interactive exercise highlighted how individuals and societies must make choices under conditions of limited resources. Students enthusiastically shared their reflections, acknowledging how the activity helped them relate economic theory to real-life situations. One student remarked, “We never realized how tough it is to manage everything with limited means until we had to make those decisions ourselves.
The session concluded with a discussion on sustainable resource use and the importance of balancing wants with needs—a key takeaway from the lesson on scarcity.
