Gurukul Global School, in collaboration with Educational Initiatives (EI), hosted an insightful workshop for teachers on the "Art and Science of Question Design for Meaningful Learning," led by Mr. Virender Verma, Senior Academic Consultant at EI. The workshop aimed to help educators innovate their approach to crafting questions, turning them into tools that foster critical thinking and conceptual clarity in students.
The interactive session encouraged teachers to rethink traditional methods of questioning, moving beyond rote memorization to frame questions that stimulate curiosity, identify learning gaps, and promote deep comprehension. Mr. Verma highlighted the importance of questions that test conceptual understanding, encourage problem-solving, and connect learning to real-world contexts.
The workshop also focused on balancing creativity and structure in question design, ensuring questions are both engaging and aligned with learning objectives. Teachers were introduced to techniques like integrating real-life scenarios, skill-based learning, and critical analysis into assessments, making them more relevant and impactful. Practical exercises, including question-rating activities and the application of Bloom’s Taxonomy, helped educators create questions that assess higher-order thinking and not just basic knowledge.
The session concluded by emphasizing how well-designed assessments can inspire critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning in students, marking a significant step in empowering teachers to design assessments that engage and challenge young minds.
